The aim of this new drop in cafe is to provide stroke survivors and their carers with a central meeting point to socialize and gain friendly factual advice to help cope with the after effects of a stroke.
The purpose of the drop in cafe is to give people the opportunity to:-
- Socialize with other stroke survivors and carers who are living with the effects of a stroke and share their experiences.
- Help and support each other
- Communicate information
- Represent the views of stroke survivors and their carers on different local and national committees
- Maintain contact with the professionals in the world of stroke within the PCT
- Arrange social events for stroke survivors and their carers if required
- Suggest practical solutions to achieving tasks in everyday life
- Provide a list of agencies and voluntary organisations which might be helpful to stroke survivors and carers
- Develop and encourage people to reinforce basic skills in coping with everyday life
- Participate in research into stroke in terms of rehabilitation and prevention of further strokes
- Help in the training of professionals in working with people who have had a stroke
- Provide a list of events happening in the world of strokes locally and nationally
- Develop a website to give members access to this information.
- Group meetings are every Friday
