Local artist Al Davison is best known for his graphic novels, illustrations and martial arts demonstrations, but on May 8th he shows another of his talents.   His one man show "The Spiral Cage: Scar Tissue" draws on the family and personal history which brought his books "The Spiral Cage" and "Spiral Dreams" widespread acclaim and respect.  Al Davison's entertaining and powerful performance culminates in his struggle to overcome "disability", the prejudice that surrounds it, and his mission to end a cycle of astonishing events in his family's history.  His story spans 100 years from the suffragette movement, death, war, imprisonment, love and attempted murder.  Al said "I have performed this show all over Britian, but this is the first performance since I opened my studio here in Coventry.  I've revised it to include more of my family's history, including my great aunt Emily Davison, the Suffragette who famously died under the king's horse at the Derby in 1913.

Introducing Tawa

We would like to introduce Tawa, our new administration/support group worker. Tawa is keen to get to know our members and has arranged a new art workshop that will cover all sorts of art work.

You don’t have to be an artist, just come and have a look and have a coffee! It will be run regularly on a weekly basis, every Wednesday morning.

Good news for our members

The Coventry Support Group will now be held back at the Midlands Sports Center for the Disabled in Cromwell Lane.

Look under support for more details.

Wendy - thank you

Wendy Humpage, our Nuneaton/Bedworth will be leaving us as she has a new post in Birmingham.  Wendy has done a brilliant job for Headway Coventry & Warwickshire and for the members in the Nuneaton area.  We will all miss her very much and wish her success in her future career.

AGM Guest Speakers

Both the Police and West Midlands Fire Service gave very interesting talks with slideshows and with question and answer sessions.  The theme was personal safety and we were given some very useful information.  You can find leaflets and information at the office. We were offered free home safety checks by the Fire Service.  You can find out more and contact them for a free check by clicking here (scroll down page) or on the Links button. Both Service's offered to come and do a presentation for all those that missed it.  If enough people are interested we can make the arrangements.  Please contact Janet at the office or leave a message.
